Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Course in INDIA
Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Course was developed under the
auspices of Society of Critical Care medicine, USA by multidisciplinary
educators in the fields of Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Internal
Medicine, Nursing Pediatrics and surgery. The FCCS course is an international
course being conducted in 25 countries all over the world since 1995 under the
license from SCCM. The FCCS course is a standardized two-day course providing
critical care information to those specialists who have no formal training in
critical care medicine. The course consists of standardized 16 lectures
referenced to syllabus material plus 4 interactive skill stations and pre &
post assessment test. Individuals who successfully complete the required
provider will receive a certificate of successful completion from society of
Critical Care Medicine USA.
The Society of Critical Care Medicine, USA has been granting licenses for the
sole purpose of conducting the fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Course.
One such license wash obtained by Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine –
Jaipur Chapter in 2003 and under that license Indian Society of Critical Care
Medicine – Jaipur Chapter have been conducting FCCWS courses in India. So far
we have conducted 24 FCCS Provider & 13 FCCS Instructor Courses in which
more than 700 doctors interested in critical care medicine have participated.
The FCCS Course offers an approach to initial management of the critically ill
patient for providers not formally trained in critical care. Participants will
learn useful information about the extended care of critically ill patients,
especially care related to mechanical ventilation, monitoring, organ hypo
perfusion and neurological support. Providers will receive guidance for acute
problems encountered in the ICU and for sudden patient deterioration.
The content of Course was developed with input from International Critical Care
experts and liaisons from the American Academy of Family Practitioners and the
American College of Emergency Physicians.
