“ HANSRAJ NAYYAR MEMORIAL AWARD”
A prestigious award, called the “HANSRAJ NAYYAR MEMORIAL AWARD” will be
 
Awarded annually to the best paper presented by a young scientist, below 40 years of
 
Age, at the National Conference in Critical Care organized by ISCCM AT Agra.
 
The winner will present this paper in a special session Called the HANSRAJ NAYYAR
 
MEMORIAL SESSION to be held during the plenary Session. The award consists of a
 
Trophy, certificate, and a cash prize, which will be presented to the recipient of the award, at the Annual National Conference.
 
 
Last date for submission – 15 December 2008.
 
The submission should be made to The Organizing Secretary of Conference Dr.Vijaykumar Singhal

Canadian -International Survey
Dear ISCCM member,

As you know we are encouraging research in critical care in India, & have
created a research committee for this. One of our projects is participation
in an International Weaning survey, organized  by our Canadian colleagues.
We are now in the active phase of this project. Depending on randomization,
you may receive a postal survey regarding your weaning practices. If you do
receive one, please fill it up as completely & accurately as feasible & send
it back to us (with the enclosed envelope at the ISCCM office address)
without undue delay. Our successful participation in this project will go
some way in making us regular participants in future international research
in critical care.

Fellowship Exam on 30&31 Aug ,2008

The exam structure is as follows
1) 1 long case & 2 short cases (actual cases)
2) A set of Objective Structured Clinical Exam Questions on the following topics
    a) ECG
    b) Xray chest
    c) CT scan
    d) Lab report, ABG
    e) Communication skills & EOL
     f) Hemodynamic monitoring
     g) Mechanical Ventilation
The last 3 of these OSCE''''s will be with an examiner present. The questions that you will be asked on these osce''''s will be structured & standard for all candidates
3) A viva on appraisal of a research paper. I would recommend all of you to the website www.evidencebased.net  and also to look at the JAMA user''''s guide link & the EBM toolkit link provided in the website. The evidence based reviews are also excellent examples of how to appraise research.
4) A grand viva with all examiners present.

In Addtion you need to get your CoBaFolio duly filled along with you. If you have already done some research or are doing a project you maybe asked about it and will be required to submit by the time of the ISCCM conference next year.
